Sherrill Farm
We are Dave and Melissa and we live on a farm in Keeter, Texas. We moved here in February of 2008. We aren't experienced farmers but we love living out in the country. We have wonderful friends and family who also live out here and we trade our stories and experiences with each other.

Guests
So we had some visitors last weekend. Colleen and Travis were visiting from New York. They swung by to have lunch and see some baby goats. It was fun having people out who aren't afraid to get close to the animals and who close the gate behind them. You would be surprised.

Then there were 13.
So this is something that Dave & I have been talking about doing for quite some time. Starting a blog about our farm life and sharing it with our friends and family who are far away. Also so that we can look back on the progress or mistakes we've made along the way. I'm really excited to get this started!
This weekend has brought new life to the farm. On Friday we were in town getting the rent house ready for the new tenants. We arrived back to the farm to find that one of our momma goats had two little ones! She is a dwarf goat who mated with a pygmy goat. We were so happy! Dave had been going out and sitting with her several times a day. I don't think he'll admit that he was worried about her.
Saturday, my family was celebrating my nephew's birthday so I headed out to town. Dave called me and said that our other pregnant goat had given birth and he saw it! We have had six babies born & we have never seen the actual birth. The closest we've been is just after when the mom is cleaning them up. I was so bummed that I missed it. The baby goats are so adorable and fun to have. Well, Dave surprised me. He was able to video the birth of the second baby goat! It's pretty amazing! I tried to upload the video but I'm having issues.
